Jamaica Plain News is first published.

1872

Published by the Jamaica Printing Company initially from offices in the Bartlett Building on Green Street, it is the first regular newspaper in Jamaica Plain. The 12- to 16-page weekly contains a first section with general news followed, after May 1893, by three pages of news each for Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, and West Roxbury. The paper moves to its own new building on Seaverns Avenue in 1908,* and later moves to 674 Centre Street.
